Last night our Sunday School class celebrated Valentine’s Day with a special dinner and entertainment. One husband from each table was selected to serenade his wife with a love song. We listened to some interesting renditions of I Want to Hold Your Hand and Close to You. Mark wasn’t one of those chosen to sing, but I told him that if those men could sing at a moments notice in public that I figured he could sing a love song to me with a 24-hour notice. He has a few more hours until the deadline :).
In January, we held a family meeting to discuss keeping the Christmas tree up until Valentine’s Day. The vote was unanimous in favor of a Valentine tree. (Mark’s vote carried a lot of weight.) We dismantled the tree a week ago, and I miss the cheerful lights.
I experimented with different kinds of paper to make woven hearts this year. My favorite paper was Mark’s old navigational charts.
Today is the first day of March, and I suppose the February 14th celebrations are officially over—but Valentine’s Day continues in our hearts because “love never ends” (1 Corinthians 13:8a).
