True Life Saver flavors revealed and matched to colors:
RED = CHERRY
LIGHT YELLOW = PINEAPPLE
ORANGE = ORANGE
GREEN = WATERMELON
PURPLE = RASPBERRY
The 6 March poll indicated that:
92% correctly identified red as cherry-flavored, 8% chose raspberry.
36% correctly identified light yellow as pineapple-flavored, 64% chose lemon.
50% correctly identified orange as orange flavored, 50% chose tangerine.
0% correctly identified green as watermelon, 73% chose lime, and 27% chose green apple.
8% correctly identifed purple as raspberry, 92% chose grape.
Since when did the green “O” taste like watermelon, and the purple “O” loose it’s grapeness?? In 2003, to be exact.
Flavor changes came about in 2003 when two million peope voted on-line to change the traditional green-lime to watermelon and the purple-grape to raspberry. Kraft held the web-based promotion in a bid to freshen market appeal and increase sales, and then sold out to Wrigley the following year.
According to my poll, we can’t correctly match the green and purple to the new flavors to save our lives. We’re not so good on pineapple and orange either.
So, just go savor your Life Saver flavors, and enjoy, as Boyd calls them, “these little flavor bombs.”
